Dr. Wen is a part of the team that has recently published “Natural Environment, Neighborhood Contexts, and Intra-Urban Suicidal Behavior” on GeoHealth. Using census block group data from Salt Lake City, this study found that greater green space and walkability were associated with lower suicidal behavior, while greater hotel access and higher labor force participation were linked to higher risk. Higher income and larger families were protective. Environmental effects varied by neighborhood characteristics, highlighting how physical, socioeconomic, and contextual factors jointly influence suicide risk and emphasizing the need for place-based prevention strategies.View Publication: https://doi.org/10.1029/2025GH001567
