Trends and Sociodemographic Differentials in Neonatal, Infant, and Under-5 Mortality in Bangladesh,
1993–2022
Dr. Tareque is a part of the team that has recently published “Trends and Sociodemographic Differentials in Neonatal, Infant, and Under-5 Mortality in Bangladesh, 1993–2022” on Public Health Challenges. Analyzing Bangladesh Demographic and Health Survey data from 1993–2022, this study found substantial declines in neonatal, infant, and under-five mortality. However, persistent disparities by maternal education, household wealth, and region remained, with the poorest and least educated facing nearly double the risk, highlighting priorities for targeted, equitable child health interventions.
