Dr. Tareque is a part of the team that has recently published “Influence of internal migration on antenatal care utilization in Bangladesh: Findings from a nationally representative cross-sectional survey” on PLoS One. Using nationally representative data from Bangladesh, this study found that internal migration significantly influences antenatal care utilization. Rural-to-urban migrants were more likely to receive professional antenatal care, while urban-to-rural migrants had lower use of professional and quality care. Strengthening rural health services could reduce inequalities in maternal healthcare access.
