Dr. Kingston is a part of the team that has published “Are there socioeconomic inequalities among older people prescribed potentially inappropriate medications? A systematic review and meta-analysis” on Research Connections. This systematic review and meta-analysis of 37 observational studies found that older adults with lower socioeconomic status (SES) were significantly more likely to receive potentially inappropriate medications (PIMs) than those with higher SES (OR 1.29). Similar disparities were observed for lower education and income levels. The findings highlight persistent socioeconomic inequalities in prescribing quality and medication safety among older adults, underscoring the need for targeted interventions and further research into underlying causes.View Publication: https://doi.org/10.1093/rescon/vmag045
