Dr. Kim is a part of the team that has recently published “Sibling Dynamics in Adult Children's Support Across Parental Widowhood Phases in Korea” on Journal of Marriage and Family. This quantitative study examined how adult children's financial and caregiving support varies by sibling position, sibship size, and widowhood timing. First-born sons increased financial support in early widowhood; first-born daughters provided dying-parent care. Both supports proved temporary, with later-born sons less involved.
