Socioeconomic status and the relationship of physical performance
with activities of daily living among US older adults
Dr. Malhotra is a part of the team that has recently published “Socioeconomic status and the relationship of physical performance with activities of daily living among US older adults” in PLoS One. Using Health and Retirement Study data, this study examined whether socioeconomic status (SES) modifies the relationship between physical performance and activities of daily living (ADL) limitations in older adults. Better gait speed and grip strength consistently predicted greater ADL independence, but education, income, and wealth did not alter these associations. Maintaining physical performance remains essential for preserving independence in later life. View Publication: https://doi.org/10.1371/journal.pone.0347918
