Longitudinal relationships between persistent moderate-to-severe pain and poor multidimensional sleep health with frailty among community-dwelling older adults
Dr. Chen, with colleagues, has recently published “Longitudinal relationships between persistent moderate-to-severe pain and poor multidimensional sleep health with frailty among community-dwelling older adults” in Archives of Gerontology and Geriatrics Plus. Using data from the Taiwan Longitudinal Study on Aging, this study examined pain, multidimensional sleep health, and future frailty among community-dwelling older adults. Acute and persistent moderate-to-severe pain and poor sleep health independently increased frailty risk. Poor sleep further amplified the risk associated with persistent pain, suggesting that improving multidimensional sleep health may help reduce frailty among older adults experiencing chronic pain.
