Sleep Quality and Cognitive Life Expectancy in the United States
Dr. Chiu, with colleagues, has recently published “Sleep Quality and Cognitive Life Expectancy in the United States” in Research on Aging. Using 2002–2020 Health and Retirement Study data, this study examined associations between sleep quality, cognitive status, and life expectancy among 20,683 older adults. Poorer sleep quality was associated with 1.0–2.4 fewer years of total life expectancy and life expectancy with normal cognition in both men and women. The findings highlight sleep health as an important factor in healthy cognitive aging and dementia prevention. View Publication: https://doi.org/10.1177/01640275251394993
