Creative Work, Divine Struggles, and Self-Esteem: Evidence from Singapore
Dr. Ang is a part of the team that has recently published “Creative Work, Divine Struggles, and Self-Esteem: Evidence from Singapore” on Review of Religious Research. Using data from 467 Singaporean workers, this study found that creative work was positively associated with self-esteem, whereas divine struggles were negatively associated with self-esteem. Importantly, creative work had a stronger positive effect among individuals experiencing greater divine struggles, suggesting that meaningful work can compensate for diminished self-worth linked to troubled relationships with God.
