How Patient Use of Electronic Health Records Affects Perceived Quality of Care in Older Adults:
Exploring Gender and Age Disparities
Dr. Chiao is a part of the team that has recently published “How Patient Use of Electronic Health Records Affects Perceived Quality of Care in Older Adults: Exploring Gender and Age Disparities” in Journal of Applied Gerontology. Using 2018–2020 HINTS data, this study examined the relationship between electronic health record (EHR) use and quality of care among U.S. adults aged 65 and older. Patient-centered communication (PCC) significantly mediated this relationship, with a stronger mediating effect among adults over 70. The findings highlight the importance of age-sensitive EHR design and communication strategies in improving healthcare experiences. View Publication: https://doi.org/10.1177/07334648251350733
