Kriti Vikram is an Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Co-Deputy Director of the Centre for Family and Population Research at the National University of Singapore. Her research lies at the intersection of life course sociology, family demography, gender studies, and social epidemiology. She studies how inequality is generated in the early stages of life and its far-reaching implications for later life health in the Global South.
Her research program spans three interrelated areas of inquiry. The first investigates variations in children's health and academic achievement, and the role of family resources and effort on the life chances of children and youth. The second area of inquiry integrates the life course framework into the study of child development and emphasizes its gendered dimensions. The third area of research extends this research to adults and links early-life adversities and challenges faced by girls and women in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) to their health in later life. Her work has been supported by the Ministry of Education, Government of Singapore.
