Dr. Tuo-Yu Chen is a gerontologist and assistant research fellow at the Institute of European and American Studies at Academia Sinica. His research focuses on enhancing the health and well-being of older adults through interdisciplinary studies, particularly exploring sleep health and its connection to healthy aging. Dr. Chen uses large, longitudinal datasets to examine health dynamics and function in later life.
As Principal Investigator of several competitive grants funded by Taiwan’s National Science and Technology Council, his projects include validating the Mandarin RU-SATED sleep health scale and studying the long-term effects of sleep health on healthy aging. Dr. Chen is also a Senior Fulbright Research Grant recipient, investigating objective sleep health and aging. Additionally, he has collaborated on international studies addressing hypertension-related disabilities, social frailty, food insecurity, and the use of digital technologies to promote health in aging populations. Dr. Chen has published over 30 peer-reviewed articles, and his work has been cited in policy briefs and media outlets.
