Ying-Ting Wang is an associate professor in the Department of Social and Policy Sciences at Yuan Ze University. Her research focuses on family change in contemporary Taiwan, particularly the distinct dynamics of intergenerational coresidence and cohabitation in East Asian contexts. Motivated by the limitations of Western-centric theories in explaining Taiwanese family patterns, her work seeks to generate empirical insights grounded in local data. She has led multiple nationally funded projects that examine the wellbeing implications of unmarried adult children living with their parents, as well as the prevalence and meaning of cohabitation. Wang’s research not only contributes to international scholarship by bringing in non-Western perspectives but also highlights the policy relevance of large-scale Taiwanese datasets. Her ongoing projects continue to explore how life satisfaction, caregiving, and family expectations intersect across the life course in a rapidly aging and increasingly unmarried society.
